Something Old, Something New
At first it was an essence
brought by the warmth
of an early morning sunrise.
My attention piqued.
Something old, something new
Then a thousand tiny rainbows
from the blanket of dew,
brought to my eyes.
My memory clicked.
Something old, something new
A childhood memory,
lingering close,
lost,
then caught.
Taught.
Shown the essence of life’s meaning,
by a leaf.
Something old, something new
Red leaf in autumn,
used to be green,
now dappled in dew
I love you.
